The second European project is titled EmpowerAId (Empowering pre- and in-service teachers to harness the potential of AI for designing creative and ethical digital education ecosystems) with Project Code: 101196758. Within this framework, the Directorate plays a key role in implementing the project, focusing on strengthening teacher education through innovative training programs aimed at integrating ethical and creative applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education.

Erasmus+ Academies for Educators

EmpowerAId: Empowering current and future teachers to utilize the potential of Artificial Intelligence in designing creative and ethical digital education ecosystems.

Duration: April 2025 – March 2028 (36 months)

Description:

The EmpowerAId Academy aims to build an innovative, multi-stakeholder, and participatory network of European Initial Teacher Education (ITE) and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) providers, with the goal of co-sharing and co-designing “bottom-up” educational pathways. These pathways will empower current and future teachers to use Artificial Intelligence in an ethical and creative way in their professional practice.

By facilitating collaboration among teacher trainers, educators, and policy makers, the project will develop and pilot inclusive training programs rich in mobility experiences, tailored to diverse target groups. These programs will focus on AI ethics and creative pedagogical approaches, support the development of digital skills related to AI, and contribute to shaping modern and “future-ready” teacher education systems across Europe through synergies, real-life testing, and involvement in policy processes.
